Infection Control Annual Statement & Policy – Chadsfield Medical Practice

Completing the Annual Statement for Infection Prevention and Control (Primary Care) It is a requirement of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 Code of Practice on the prevention and control of infections and related guidance that the Infection Prevention and Control Lead produces an annual statement with regard to compliance and good practice on infection prevention and control and makes it available for anyone who wishes to see it, including patients and regular authorities.

The Practice conducts annual Infection Control Audits including but not limited to Practice premises, consulting rooms, stock rotation and the cold chain, cleanliness, hand hygiene, waste disposal and policies.

For the period preceding this statement the results are as follows:

• Known infection transmission event and actions arising from this; NONE

• Audits undertaken and subsequent actions;
Infection control audit and Hand wash audit underway in Sept 2025

• Risk assessments undertaken for prevent and control of infection:
IPC Training received by staff ; all staff have to do infection control training, new starters have handwash training on their induction timetable

• Review and update of policies, procedures and guidance; this is underway during Sept / Oct 2025

• Review of the Practice waiting room, use of pins and notice boards including wipeable materials – underway during Sept / Oct 2025
