Chronic Disease Clinics
We offer comprehensive services for patients with chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, asthma and high blood pressure. The majority of these clinics are run by the practice nurses. If you have a chronic disease and have not been contacted in the last 12 months for a routine review, please call the surgery to make an appointment.
Childhood Immunisations
The childhood immunisation programme is offered through the practice. Babies will normally receive immunisations at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age and then further immunisations at 12 and 13 months before pre-school boosters are given at 3½ years.
If your child is overdue any immunisations please speak to the doctor, practice nurse or health visitor, or ask at reception for an appointment in the immunisation clinic.
Cervical Smears
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme in England offers free tests to all women aged between 25 and 64 who are registered with their GP.
This includes women who have had the HPV vaccination, as the vaccine does not guarantee complete protection against cervical cancer.
If you have not had a cervical screening test within the appropriate time, you may be offered one when you next visit your GP.
Please contact the practice to book a screening appointment if you are overdue one.
Cardiovascular Risk Screening
The practice nurses offer cardiovascular risk screening and advice for all patients aged 35-70. If you are in this age group you will be invited to attend an appointment at the health centre.
Blood Pressure Monitoring (24 hour)
Your blood pressure is not fixed and can rise and fall depending on what you are doing and what is happening around you. When having their blood pressure taken some patients suffer from ‘White Coat syndrome’, where their blood pressure is higher in a medical setting than at home therefore giving an inaccurate reading.
Our 24 hour blood pressure monitoring service can provide a more accurate reading of patients’ blood pressure for suspected hypertension. Patients are asked to purchase a small digital monitor and take regular checks to record.

Blood Pressure Monitoring (Self-Service)
1 in 4 adults in Stockport have high blood pressure…. are you one of them?
If you have high blood pressure and you don’t know, you could be at risk of having a stroke or heart attack. High blood pressure can often go unnoticed as it doesn’t have any symptoms. The only way to find out is to have regular checks. A self-service BP machine is now available for patients to use in our waiting room. No need to book – just pop in!
